Strangeness and Boredom go for a Walk.
I’d write something right now. But I am blank.
Blank Blank Blank.
Just blank.
Blank. Blankets.
Blink.Blank.
Wink….?
Guess the next word.
If you can guess the next word, and you hold the right ticket (you know…The ticket that you do not actually have to purchase the product for…But on which you do have to read the small print which is upside down, and on the back of the lable…I’m sure you know the one I mean.) then you will be entered into a special competition for special people only. In this competition you could win….Well, if you can guess what you will win, then you will automatically be entered into the bonus round, in which you will automatically have the chance to win our special prize (for special people) of 2000000 spoons!
Strangeness and Boredom go for a Walk
—-
Strangeness met Boredom on the corner as usual. They began their everyday journey down the street together. They waved at Thoughtful, who looked breezier than usual with a transparent scarf on and the wind blowing through her hair, as she walked past them in the opposite direction. She smiled at them knowingly.
They got to the cross-roads and took a left as always. Five paces north, and down the winding alley-way. The alley lead to a tunnel. Strangeness pulled out the map and secretively looked over his/her shoulder.
‘Shh!’ whispered Boredom as he pulled off his hooded mask.
‘Yeah I know.’ shouted Strangeness, as he/she pulled out a potato from his/her pocket.
Boredom looked over, pale as always. He leaned in to touch and breathe on the potato, his hands as pasty as the potato skin in front of him. ‘This will get us warm’ he said as he started rubbing the potato on his ashen face.
‘Wait! Not yet!’ whispered Strangeness mysteriously. She/he then took the potato from Boredom and started walking towards the end of the tunnel. Boredom ran to catch up.
When they reached the place where the lights starts and the tunnel ends they looked around suspiciously. ‘This is where the drop off point is’, whispered Strangeness, biting his/her lip.
Suddenly, as if by teleportation, they were sucked up into the air and dropped about 100 feet from where they first stood.
‘No’ said a strangers voice boldly. ‘This is where the drop off point is’
They turned towards the voice and saw Animosity standing there with a knife held to Warmth’s throat.
Boredom groaned quietly, rubbing his elbow as he stood up.
Strangeness stepped forward holding out the potato. Boredom looked around uneasily.
‘Give it to my assistant’ said Animosity.
‘What assistant?’ asked Boredom, again looking around uneasily.
Strangeness looked around also. Then they both saw her.
She had long dark hair and stood in the shadows-merging with the darkness behind her. She held out her long slender fingers and took the potato from Strangeness. Only her hand came into contact with the light. The rest of her remained in the dark.
‘Apathy’ Boredom whispered in recognition.
Animosity released Warmth, and pushed her towards Strangeness. Warmth fell to her knees, in front of her friends. They helped her up and scurried away looking over their shoulders as they went to be certain that they were not being followed. When they had made it back the tunnel, they slowed down.
‘I thought I’d never see you again’ murmured Warmth, nuzzeling up to Strangeness. Strangeness wrapped his/her arm around her, while Boredom handed her some lemon zest.
‘Thanks’ she said appreciatively as they walked back up the alley-way.
All in all, it had been an eventful Tuesday for all of them.
